PID service
ePIC is a service for creating and editing unique persistent identifiers (PIDs) that can be used to reference digital objects which have a valid URL, such as research data and documents, and make them permanently referenceable on the Internet. The reference stored in a PID can be provided with metadata, modified and resolved. The service is part of the Persistent Identifier Consortium for eResearch.
Ensure access to data
Digital objects such as research data, texts and images that can be accessed via a valid URL can be made referenceable in ePIC by linking them to a persistent identifier. While the PID remains valid and is published, the linked URL can be adapted as required. This enables reliable data exchange between researchers and long-term traceable citation.
In this self-service provided via the Academic Cloud, individuals can create, manage and view PIDs. In the integrated resolver, the self-created PIDs can be resolved and the referenced digital objects and their metadata can be viewed.
In addition to the self-service, it is also possible to create not only individual PIDs, but also receive entire prefixes. Individuals or institutions can arrange a consultation at support@pidconsortium.net to discuss their requirements and configuration.
