Basic Services for Research Data Management in Niedersachsen
Research Data Management
Research data management (RDM) is playing an increasingly important role at all universities and research institutions in Lower Saxony. The conditions for handling the complex topic of RDM in a sustainable manner are ideal, especially since the start of the “State Initiative for Research Data Management in Lower Saxony”. A long term RDM concept is implemented by research-oriented universities with many years of experience in advising researchers as well as in the development and operation of services related to RDM. In order to consistently promote this effort, a portfolio of digital services to support researchers in dealing with research data is essential in addition to the state-wide initiative under the umbrella of “Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen”.
Basic Services
Basic services for RDM, such as those developed by the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany, represent the backbone of research and research-related processes concerning RDM. The above-mentioned stakeholders already offer a variety of services and applications through their libraries, data centers, or RDM service facilities. With the support of the “RDM Basic Services for Lower Saxony” project funded by the state of Lower Saxony, these are to be made accessible to scientists, students, and university employees across the state via the AcademicCloud. As part of the “RDM Basic Services for Lower Saxony” project, the following services will be made state-wide accessible. Further services will be developed as part of the “State Initiative for Research Data Management in Lower Saxony” and will also be gradually integrated into the AcademicCloud.
