AcademicCloud is a modular hub for universities, research facilities, and institutes of higher education. It offers a wide range of services for storage, sharing, communication, surveying and collaboration. In addition to the base module (AcademicCloud Basis), you can choose whichever services you need. This way, your AcademicCloud is always tailored to your needs.

AcademicCloud Structure

An illustration intended to visually support the explanation of the structure of AcademicCloud. It shows several building blocks. At the bottom is a building block labeled AcademicCloud Basis. Above it are building blocks representing various services: Survey, Meet, Gitlab, Events, and Projects. In the upper left corner of the illustration, gray building blocks indicate the existence of additional services.

AcademicCloud is fully modular.
The base module provides a foundation and already includes several useful features. You can expand it by adding other services, such as Meet, GitLab or Survey, for user groups of any size. This allows you to customize AcademicCloud to your needs – for the people, who use it!

AcademicCloud Basis includes

Features

  • Authentication service (AcademicCloud SSO)
  • Multi-Factor-Authentication
  • Self-Service portal for users
  • Adminportal and organisational management
  • Guest management
  • API access for user management
  • Optionally: Customizable Landing Page, showing all your unlocked services

AcademicCloud offers independently selectable plan for each service, from a small number of users to institution-wide access.

PlanMax. No. of users
AC1.330
AC2.1100
AC2.3300
AC3.11000
AC3.33000
ACCampus10,000
ACCampusPlus30,000
ACCampusMaxover 30,000

We recommend enabling entire institutions, as this reduces administrative effort, when issuing access to services. You can select different plans for different services but the base module must be at least the same size as the largest selected module.

AcademicCloud offers over 30 different services. For a complete list of all services is available here.

Using AcademicCloud via DFN Cloud

Using AcademicCloud as a federated service via the DFN is easy!
First, select the plan for the base module. Then, choose the services you need and contact the DFN. Simply express your interest in AcademicCloud and specify which services you require for which tiers.
Contact the DFN.

The DFN will then draft a trial framework agreement and answer any initial questions you have about working with AcademicCloud. Then, your AcademicCloud will be configured and you will receive a trial agreement from the GWDG, after which the DFN will handle everything else.
